YUIConf 2012 Talk: YUI, Open Source, and Community from Eric Ferraiuolo

By Andrew WooldridgeDecember 5th, 2012

One of the main themes of YUIConf 2012 was community. In the blog post “You Are the YUI Team: YUIConf 2012 Recap & Keynote Video” we went into some detail about this next video, which became one of the highlights of the whole conference. As always, check out our earlier videos, YUI Theater, and our YouTube channel to catch up on our previous video releases.

In this talk and town hall discussion from YUIConf 2012, senior YUI Engineer Eric Ferraiuolo presents his thoughts on how YUI can continue to progress with and for its community. His initial presentation sets the context for a town hall conversation where developers who use YUI share their feedback and insights.

You may find his slides on SpeakerDeck.com.

  2. May I suggest using something like this to schedule meetings:

I think the developer community in Europe is somewhat larger than that of Tahiti or the Solomon Islands. 2pm Pacific time is not the best, and that is just the starting time! Open Hours were at 10am and I admit that left the Aussies out, but I think that table can give some reasonable hours.

And where is the agenda for those meetings? I can devote time at such an awkward hour if what’s being discussed might be of interest, but just hang around until past midnight to see what’s up makes no sense.

The Wiki at Github has a lot of stale items. DataTable development plans for 3.5, TreeView development ideas. This makes it hard to find what are the really ‘ongoing discussions’ as that section mentions.
