We’re looking for an exceptional JavaScript engineer to join us in building the next generation of open-source JavaScript platforms. Our products solve real-world, complex problems at massive scale, have flexible and intuitive APIs that have withstood the test of time, and embrace the best practices of usability, testability, DRY, and performance. This position is located in Sunnyvale, CA, and telecommuting is not available at this time.

Required Job Qualifications:

  • Computer Science or equivalent degree.
  • Absolute mastery of JavaScript.
  • Expertise in OO and agile software development with a proven track record of problem solving and quality.
  • A passion for the YUI family of products, including Mojito, and the problems they are striving to solve.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills, great attention to detail and follow-through.

Preferred Job Qualifications:

  • Experience delivering platforms for other developers.
  • A commit history on open source software projects, especially YUI or Mojito.
  • Depth of expertise in one or more front-end domains such as:
    • cross-browser UI
    • mobile constraints
    • performance
    • JavaScript on the server
    • front-end testing frameworks
    • internationalization
    • the MVC problem space

  3. Do you ever have more jr level JS jobs? I’m fairly competent (i.e. closures, recursion, OOP, i18n etc.), but I’m not ‘there’ yet. Reading JS patterns (S. Stefanov) now and writing code in my spare time, but I’d really love to be able to focus on doing JS full time. Thanks!

    @Alex, positions on the YUI team are really for folks who have rock solid JS chops. That said, Yahoo is hiring at all levels, so you may want to check out our open positions at http://careers.yahoo.com. But the best way to demonstrate your chops is to contribute to the project, so fork away at http://github.com/yui/. Cheers!
