Welcome to YUI Weekly, the weekly roundup of news and announcements from the YUI team and community. If you have any interesting demos or links you’d like to share, feel free to leave a comment below.
This week marks the conclusion of the Sprint 9 development cycle. The release window opens up next Tuesday, and if everything goes according to plan, YUI 3.12 should become available on the CDN shortly afterwards. Thanks to the dozens of contributors who have submitted hundreds of commits over the past month. If you are anxious to get started, check out the 3.12.0-beta-1 announcement and the release-3.12.0 branch.
At this week’s Open Roundtable, discussion topics included Pure Buttons vs CSSButton architecture, how to handle performance regressions in CI, the state of linting in YUI, and a demo of YUI’s new CI dashboard. You can find a video of that Hangout here.
Over at Tech.pro, Dan Wellman (@danwellman) recently posted a series of 15 video tutorials covering many things in YUI, including: the global object, Node, Event, Widget, and more. Video tutorials such as these, and Kevin Lamping‘s YUI 3’s Use and Add Methods are great ways to contribute to the project. If you have experience creating video tutorials, or it is just something that interests you, let us know and we can help you get started with some ideas.
New and updated modules in this week’s Gallery build include: itsadialog, rangyinputs, rocket, y3d, y3d-anim, y3d-camera, y3d-color, y3d-geometry, y3d-math, y3d-picker-plugin, y3d-scene, y3d-shader, and y3d-texture.
